Latest Updates from Our Project:

Arrival
over 6 years ago – Wed, Sep 27, 2017 at 12:32:06 AM

Hold on to your Plague Mask, because the ship has just arrived into port!!

This Update will cover 3 things: 1) ARRIVAL  2) Address Updates  3) Thumbs up for the game

1) ARRIVAL

You’ll be pleased to know that the bubonic plague has arrived via ship to a new port! This happened before several centuries ago without a good ending, but this time, it’s a game.

I was able to snap a quick pic of the ship coming in, and all looks good:

Nothing to see here, as the ship arrives...
Nothing to see here, as the ship arrives...

This is great news, because now it can clear customs and begin the trek towards the fulfillment centers. Upon arrival at the fulfillment centers, Infected will be unloaded and then organized and sorted to go out to your local post. It’s still a bit of a process, but I wanted to let you know that the games have arrived!

2) Address Updates, if needed

This means you need to make sure your address is correct. For almost all of you, nothing is required because you’ve already completed your survey via BackerKit. If you have moved or need an address update different from what you’ve already given us, you can do this at: infected.backerkit.com

A good address means that you’ll be infected soon enough. Without an address, I’m sorry to say that you’ll remain your normal healthy self.

3) Give Infected a Thumbs Up

If you have time to click on this link at Board Game Geek, it will help others to find the game as well.

If you go there and give the game a thumbs up, a heart, subscribe, become a fan, rate it, etc… it will climb up the gaming ladder. It’s a small step you can take really quickly to help others find Infected, and it will mean a lot towards us making new games, including an expansion for Infected. THANK YOU!

Thank you again everyone for your patience during the delivery process. I’m really excited to have you play Infected. I'll continue to keep you posted as delivery of the games progresses. Thanks!

Shipping, Retailers, Gen Con, and Surveys
over 6 years ago – Wed, Aug 16, 2017 at 09:41:30 PM

Hey everyone! This update will cover shipping, retailers, Gen Con, and surveys.

SHIPPING:
OK - I just received notice that the Bubonic Plague is bound for Europe. Repeat, the Bubonic Plague has boarded the ship!  The shipment to the fulfillment center in Germany will be leaving port on August 19. Now, we wait!

Another ship will be leaving soon as well for the USA. I live in the USA, so I am just as excited as all of you to receive it. Once the ships arrive (in September), then everything is sorted out at the fulfillment centers and organized and then sent out to you all via your local posts. Playing the ship waiting game can take a month, so please hold tight. I’ll keep you posted on every new shipping notice, etc.

RETAILERS:

I’ve talked with many of you already. For those of you retailers who still need to order your copies, you can contact me and I’ll invoice you. The games come in master cartons in quantities of 12. And Infected will retail for $20. Backers of Infected on Kickstarter received a hefty discount of 20% off retail price. Thank you all for being backers. :)

GEN CON:

I hope many of you have fun at Gen Con! We are going to try and plan a booth for next year, so come play a game with us in 2018. We’ll have who knows how many games and expansions there in a year’s time. ;)

SURVEYS:

If you haven’t completed your survey, this is literally the last call. The man in the wheelbarrow is bringing his cart to your door, and you must complete it now! Just go to: infected.backerkit.com - 97% of you have completed your survey already, so that’s fantastic. If you don’t complete it by shipping day, then it becomes very difficult to mail you the Bubonic Plague. And I know you want it.

NEW GAMES:

Yes. We are making new games. They are awesome and amazing. But first we want to ship you this one.

Manufacturing and Samples!
almost 7 years ago – Mon, Jul 31, 2017 at 10:49:41 PM

Hey everyone! Just a quick update to share where we are in the manufacturing process.  :)

Almost everything is finished with production. The manufacturer is estimating another 10 or so business days to finish, and then everything is jumping onto a ship to sail across the ocean, much like the actual Bubonic Plague in 1347.

How many cards were printed? About 720,000.

How many miniatures were manufactured? About 12,000.

I received another manufacturing sample, so I’d like to share some images I snapped!

Everything fits really well into the game box. I love how the rules turned out as well, as you can see in these images.

The art and quality in everything is excellent.

The final box was embossed as a thank you to all of you. When you receive your copy of Infected, you’ll be able to feel the embossing on the Infected logo across 4 different areas of the game box.

The sleeves are really cool because of the way it was designed. I've inserted cards into the sleeves in the image above so that you can see both sides of the sleeves. One side won't let you see through it, and the other side can have the card back showing. Either way they are turned, no one will be able to know who received which pack of cards so that the identities in the game remain a secret!

The detail in the final product is really amazing. The miniature is even more detailed than we imagined it could be, so I think you’ll love it!

After all of the final manufacturing (which took a little longer than expected due to the larger than expected number of games produced), we start packing the games onto pallets and shipping them to various depots in Europe, the USA, Australia, etc. As to when we all receive the game depends on the quickness of the ship and how long it takes all of the small steps of receiving shipments into depots, organizing them into fulfillment, etc. I’ll of course keep you posted.

When the games hop onto the ship, I’ll share that tracking number and information if it’s made available to me so that we can all watch it sail across the ocean!

Updating your shipping address

If you ever need to update your shipping address, you can do that through your BackerKit survey anytime, or by going to infected.backerkit.com

Also, go ahead and follow Black Forest Studio on Facebook here: www.facebook.com/blackforeststudio so that you can read some strategy for the game, both for Villagers as well as the Plague Doctors that I’ll be posting. You can all also share the new deck setups you’ve configured for your own games using the unique cards. This will come in handy when we work on the expansion pack which gives even more variety!  ;)

I’ll continue to keep you all updated as the final steps are progressing!

Thank you all!

The Crow Has Landed.

Spoiler Alert!!

This Update contains images of Plague Doctors and other items straight from the manufacturer. If you would rather not see samples, please avert your eyes.

Ok, you've been warned.

The shipment of samples came in yesterday evening, and it is amazing!!!  (By seeing samples, we can change small things, like the color of the player discs).

I snapped some images with my phone. As you know, phone images typically don't do the piece justice, but this is definitely worth the share... also, don't look the doctor directly in the eyes.

The INFECTED Box Front
The INFECTED Box Front

I'll share images of what came in the box. One thing to know is that everything is upgraded. It's really sharp!

The INFECTED Box Back
The INFECTED Box Back

The art came out even better than we could have expected.

Here is the die next to a 1976 Deutsche Mark, which is the same size as a US quarter. The color and texture and detail on the die is remarkable.

The rules are unbelievable. Really tremendous work by everyone.

I would like to change the 6 player discs to a white background to really bring out the colors, but this is what I was sent by the manufacturer. This gives you a close look at the upgraded wooden material included for you Kickstarters! I'm holding a US quarter next to a player disc, so you can see exactly how thick it is. Really cool.

And are you ready for the miniature!!!  Ok, in reality, it shouldn't be called a "miniature."  It is massive. It's more like an action figure. When I took it out of the box, it was extraordinary.

It's quite amazing to fit so much into the box.

And that's it for the preview! The cards and art and all of the components are really fantastic. It will take quite a while to make 10,000 copies. We are on track to finish in August still, and I will keep you updated along the way!

An Infected expansion is already in the works.

Locking down BackerKit, Samples, and Embossing!
almost 7 years ago – Sat, Jun 17, 2017 at 11:06:23 PM

Hey everyone! Just a quick update covering a few things.

First, everything is going really well and we are where we should be at this point with manufacturing. In this update, I’ll cover 1) Locking down BackerKit, 2) Samples 3) Embossing!

 1) First of all, 96% of you have completed the BackerKit survey, so that’s amazing. To get the final orders locked in, please complete the survey in the next few days so that everything you need can be manufactured (and sent to you)! June 20 is the lock down date, so this is your last week to fill out your survey. You can go to infected.backerkit.com if you haven’t filled out your survey, or if you want to update your address.

 2) Samples. The manufacturer is sending me samples, so as soon as I get them, I’ll share the images with you! I’m really looking forward to these to see how everything is looking. It’s a really big moment when you receive actual game samples. You can almost taste the plague (metaphorically).

3) Embossing. Because the game looks so good, I’ve decided to also emboss the game box. This was going to be a Stretch Goal, but everyone backed it so quickly that I didn’t even have time to implement it! The “Infected” logo will really stand out, and it will be one of your best looking games.

With all of the custom cards, it will also be really cool to see what kinds of creative deck setups you create and play with. When Infected is delivered, please share what your favorite card combinations are!

Ok, that’s it for now! I’ve just arrived in North Carolina to see an original playtester, my brother Michael; he and his wife will help us playtest something new. Talk later!
